The Proud Town Network invites voluntary groups and community organisations to bring the Proud brand and framework to their own town or city — however you identify, and however you express your sexuality or identity, whatever your neurodivergence, ability, age or heritage.
About the network
Taking inspiration from Proud Watford, the Proud Town Network encourages other towns and cities to work towards places without prejudice. The brand is open to new and existing groups working towards equality and belonging for everyone — LGBTQIA+ people, neurodivergent people, allies, and people of every ability, age and heritage.
Proud Towns adhere to the Proud Pledge and organise events and activities throughout the year where everyone is welcome to express themselves openly, honestly and without judgement.

OUR CORE BELIEFS
Trans & non-binary equality
People who identify as transgender or non-binary face particular and targeted discrimination at the present time, and are, at all times, to be acknowledged as entirely equal members of society.
Allyship
People who do not identify as LGBTQ+ standing alongside those who do — and members of the community standing in support of identities that are not their own.
Intersectionality
Race, gender, class, neurodivergence, ability, age and heritage overlap to create each person’s unique combination of discrimination and privilege.

How it works
A licence, not a takeover
Each Proud Town is its own autonomous organisation — its own committee, its own bank account, its own events calendar. What the licence gives you is the right to use the Proud name and framework, brought together with other Proud Towns as part of a wider, supportive network. Proud Watford doesn’t run your Proud Town for you; the network is there to share ideas, resources and support.
Eligibility
Legal status requirement
Any new Proud Town must exist either as a project of an existing voluntary sector organisation, or set itself up as its own legal entity (a CIC is a common choice) — with insurances and policies appropriate to its activities, in line with relevant law and regulations, and a bank account in its own name.
A template constitution, based on Proud St Albans’ own set-up, is available on request.
